Carlos Slim Foundation recognized as 2015 Mexican Corporation of the Year

The Tucson Hispanic Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce the selection of the Carlos Slim Foundation as the 2015 Mexican Corporation of the Year.
The chamber is honored to recognize Mr Carlos Slim’s activities in bettering the economic situation for Latinos in the United States and Mexican citizens.
The chamber is honoring Mr. Slim for two specific programs:

  • AccesoLatino, a program that supports the development of the Latino community in the United States in three key areas: education, training for employment and legal processes. Within the framework of this program, an internet portal (accesolatino.org) makes available to the Latino community information and tools free of charge to empower latinos to close the achievement gap.
  • ArizonaOn, an initiative to provide low cost internet services to low income families in the nation.

Carlos Slim Foundation and other winners of the Binational Award were honored on the Noche de Exitos Gala and Bi-National Awards that was held on Saturday, October 17th at the Casino del Sol Resort.

Forbes magazine classifies Carlos Slim Foundation as the organization with more projects and programs in education, health, justice and personal and community development.

The Foundation was established in 1986 with the mission to establish a range of non-lucrative projects in education, health, justice and personal and community development by contributing human and financial resources to equip Mexican society with the necessary tools to succeed professionally and socially.

The Tucson Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and its affiliated chambers in Sierra Vista, Douglas and Nogales were recognized as the National Hispanic Chamber in 2013 and serve more than 1,200 member companies of the bilingual region.
