From the Carlos Slim Foundation, we are contributing to the transformation of health services in Mexico, with modern models and developments, based on Digital Health. Our health programs are aimed towards generating solutions that will help solve the problems of the most unprotected populations of the Latin American region and other parts of the world, so that more peo ple live more and better.

CASALUD®
Enfermedades Crónicas
To face chronic diseases, such as diabetes, obesity and hypertension, we developed Casalud®, a model that operates since 2013 in partnership with the Federal Ministry of Health, IMSS Prospera and state governments. lt emphasizes prevention and improving care in primary health care centers.
In Casalud®, the MIDO® (lntegrated Measurement for Prompt Detection) strategy, allows the tracking of people to prevent. delay or even reverse chronic diseases. MIDO" has been extended to the streets, to public transportation stations and even to homes.
Thanks to MIDO®, thousands of people who did not know they had diabetes, pre-diabetes or any other condition, now have the opportunity of taking the necessary measures to improve their quality of life.
Currently, MIDO® is implemented, besides in the adult population, in school age boys and girls and in pregnant women to detect diabetes during pregnancy.
CASALUD® has been recognized by independent institutions as a reference model for the rest of the world, for its innovative focus, the use of technologies and the promotion of transparency and accountability. Among them: the Broadband Commission, Deloitte and Brookings lnstitution.

AMANECE®
Salud Materna e Infantil
The AMANECE® model (Maternal, Neonatal, Growth and Early stimulation care) tavors the quality and the opportunity of care to the pregnant woman and her baby.
In partnership with the Ministry ot Health, AMANECE® has focused on the 110 municipalities that have the highest levels ot poverty in the country, such as indigenous zones and poor urban areas. AMANECE® goes beyond just health care units, reaching the women in their homes to guarantee they receive care from the early stages ot pregnancy, as well as those who are high-risk, such as adolescents and those who have gestational diabetes.

Electronic Immunization Record
Immunization Program
Since 2012, we have developed a reengineering model for the Universal lmmunization Program of Mexico, in order to improve the scope and the impact of vaccination, mainly in the most unprotected population. As the core part of the reengineering model, we designed and built a comprehensive platform to manage the immunization actions, from the healthcare unit to the national level.
As a tool for the system operation, and in partnership with the Ministry of Health and the Río Arronte Foundation, we developed the Cartilla Electrónica de Vacunación (Electronic lmmunization Record), with which we can specifically follow-up the vaccines that children under five need. The system also allows the identification of those children that are pending to be vaccinated, so that healthcare professionals can locate them and complete their immunization schemes.
The VacunAcción app was developed so that the protection of each girl and boy could be placed in the palm of the their parents' hands.

Renal Health and Organ Transplants
With this program supported by the lnbursa Foundation, we work to foster the prevention of chronic diseases, among them chronic kidney failure; as well as to foster the culture of organ and tissue donation with the Heroes for Life campaign; and help in procuring and performing transplants in partnership with public institutions, at federal and state leve!, and with civil society organizations.
In partnership with the UNAM and the National Center for Transplants, we developed the IT System of the National Transplant Registry, which allows the specific follow-up of the organ donation and assignment process, favoring equality and transparency.

Palliative Care
With this program we promete research and training of healthcare professionals so that they support the quality of life of terminally-ill patients and their families. This program, in partnership with the National lnstitutes of cancer and Medical Science and Nutrition, is also supported by the lnbursa Foundation.

Addictions
Supported by lnbursa Foundation, we work to professionalize and reinforce the quality of services offered by public and prívate rehab centers that serve thousands of people, since addictions are a serious public health problem in our country. These actions are carried out with the National Commission against Addictions (CONADIC) and Oceánica Foundation.
We also developed the first lnformation System in Prevention and Treatment of Addictions, which contributes to improve the service offered at these centers.

This health education platform offers online courses for free and without navigation costs, aimed at healthcare professionals and the general public.

Salud Mesoamerica Initiative
The Salud Mesoamérica lnitiative is a public-private partnership among the Carlos Slim Foundation, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the Canadian Government, the lnter-American Development Bank and the governments of the 8 Mesoamerican countries, which seek to reduce morbidity and mortality rates in women of reproductive age and children under five in areas of extreme poverty in the region.
The lnitiative will focus on improving the provision of health services in communities where 20% of the poorest population lives, with innovative interventions in maternal and perinatal health, child nutrition and immunization.

Malaria Elimination
The Salud Mesoamérica lnitiative has preven to be a successful model. Thus, we extended its objectives to turn Mesoamerica into the first region in the world free of malaria, through the Regional lnitiative for Malaria Elimination, which helps countries in Central America and the Dominican Republic take the last steps to eliminate this disease.
Onchocerciasis Elimination
In collaboration with the Carter Center and the Program to Eliminate Onchocerciasis in the Americas (OEPA) we contributed to the elimination of this disease in the American continent. Onchocerciasis is one of the main causes of adult blindness around the world.

RED
Since 2011, together with América Móvil, we joined (RED), the World Fund initiative to foster the fight against HIV and AIDS mother-to-child transmission and thus reduce the number of newborns with this condition in the world, one of the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Polio Eradication
The Carlos Slim Foundation joins the efforts made by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to support the Global lnitiative for Polio Eradication in the world, in two fronts simultaneously: stopping the transmission of the wild poliovirus and reinforcing routine immunization.
The disease needs to be eliminated in Afghanistan and Pakistan to be able to eradicate it.

Slim Initiative in Genomic Medicine
In 2010, the Carlos Slim Foundation and the Broad lnstitute (MIT-Harvard) launched the Slim lnitiative in Genomic Medicine for the Americas, known as SIGMA. An unprecedented partnership that also included the national institutes of Genomic Medicine and Medical Sciences and Nutrition, as well as other 15 healthcare and research institutions throughout the country, so the population of Mexico and Latin America benefit from the genomic research by:
- Researching the genetic causes of the main illnesses that affect our population: type-2 Diabetes Mellitus and cancer.
- Promote the genomic research platform in Mexico by training researchers and fostering the development of diagnostic and treatment tools with genomic technology.
The initiative has produced 35 scientific publications in journals such as Nature and Science, which set the basis for the development of treatments against the illnesses studied.
35 genomic scientific training stays have been granted at the Broad lnstitute for Mexican researchers.

Vaccine against Chagas Disease
In partnership with Baylor College of Medicine, the Center for Research and Advanced Studies (CINVEST AV) and the Autonomous University of Yucatán, we have worked since 2010 in developing one vaccine that would prevent cardiac complications from the Chagas disease. As part of the program, 5 stays have been granted for Mexican researchers at the Baylor College of Medicine and 16 scientific publications have been produced.

For twelve years, we have recognized excellent professionals and organizations that together have made the firm commitment of improving the health of the Latin American population with their work. Awards are given in two categories: Track Record in Research and Exceptional lnstitution.

CLIKISalud Website
Portal of educational communication that offers useful, reliable and current information to the population, to foster the adoption of healthy life styles and generate a culture of health prevention and self-care. The CLIKISalud website contains: articles, videos, manuals, apps and calculators. The portal consists of 17 sections with topics of interest for the population, such as chronic diseases, pregnancy, nutrition, depression and addictions, among others. The site is a very useful tool for parents, teachers and healt promoters.

These handbooks provide valuable information for daily healthcare. Since they are organized by age groups, they are a concise and practica! health guide for the different stages of life.

Hearing Aids
lt is a program to help low-income people and people of all ages with hearing problems of different degrees to improve their quality of life. This support runs under the same scheme as that of 'peso per peso' with the state DIF agencies throughout the country.

Extramural Surgeries
Program that provides highly specialized medica!care to the marginalized population of our country. Outstanding are the pediatric surgeries for varicocele, spermatic cord cysts, lymphangiomas, and lipomas; surgeries for hand and foot deformities, for cleft lip and palate, and for burn sequelae; as well as cataracts in adult patients. The program began in collaboration with the Mexican Academy of Surgery; today it is implemented in coordination with the Ministry of Health and other specialized organizations.

Wheelchairs
In partnership with the state DIF agencies (System for Comprehensive Family Development), through a 'peso per peso' scheme, the Telmex Telcel Foundation provides wheelchairs for low-income people with mobility problems.

This candy, enriched with iron and zinc, among other nutrients, is a food supplement far pregnant women, children and the elderly who live in unprotected communities, mainly in rural areas.
