{"id":4833,"date":"2015-07-31T14:42:40","date_gmt":"2015-07-31T14:42:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.fundacioncarlosslim.org\/\/?p=4833"},"modified":"2015-07-31T14:42:40","modified_gmt":"2015-07-31T14:42:40","slug":"conferencia-bb-iin","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/fundacioncarlosslim.org\/english\/conferencia-bb-iin\/","title":{"rendered":"26 Conferencia Anual de Liderazgo  \u201cI In\u201d"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>[:es]Del 17 al 20 de julio en la Universidad de Indiana en Bloomington, m\u00e1s de 2 mil estudiantes l\u00edderes, voluntarios y personal de los programas nacionales e internacionales de <strong>Best Buddies<\/strong>, participaron el la 26 Conferencia anual de liderazgo <strong>\u201cLeadership Conference\u201d<\/strong> que este a\u00f1o llev\u00f3 como t\u00edtulo <strong>\u201cI IN\u201d<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Durante ese fin de semana se ofrecieron diferentes conferencias y mesas de trabajo en las que los participantes compartieron novedosas ideas que podr\u00e1n implementar en sus cap\u00edtulos correspondientes para poder lograr amistades m\u00e1s duraderas.<\/p>\n<p>El evento de este a\u00f1o que reuni\u00f3 a los l\u00edderes estudiantiles de preparatorias, universidades y escuelas promotoras de los programas de <strong>Best Buddies<\/strong> y cont\u00f3 con una espectacular conferencia de apertura con participantes como <strong>Marlana VanHoose, <\/strong>que logr\u00f3 tocar el coraz\u00f3n de los asistentes al interpretar <strong><em>\u201cI\u2019m Walking on Sunshine\u201d <\/em><\/strong>de <strong>Katrina and the Waves<\/strong>, acompa\u00f1ada por la embajadora <strong>Lisa Smith<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Anthony K. Shriver,<\/strong> fundador y presidente de <strong>Best Buddies Internacional<\/strong>, conmovi\u00f3 a los asistentes con un discurso inspirador en el que comparaba a su hijo Joseph y a un joven de nombre Leo, quien naci\u00f3 con <strong>S\u00edndrome de Down<\/strong>, <em>\u201ctodos estamos en un mismo lugar, por lo tanto Joseph y Leo pueden crecer en un mundo de amistad, inclusi\u00f3n y tendr\u00e1n el mismo respeto que todos\u201d, asegur\u00f3.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Otros momentos destacados fueron la actuaci\u00f3n de Marlana VanHoose acompa\u00f1ada por un maravilloso coro formado por 60 personas entre participantes y voluntarios.<\/p>\n<p>As\u00ed como la gran <strong>Caminata de la Amistad<\/strong> encabezada por <strong>Lauren Potter<\/strong>, actriz de la serie de televisi\u00f3n <strong>Glee<\/strong> y <strong>David DeSanctis<\/strong>, protagonista de la pel\u00edcula <strong>Where Hope Grows.<\/strong> Durante la ceremonia de clausura algunos embajadores de <strong>Best Buddies<\/strong> ofrecieron discursos motivacionales, entre ellos <strong>Samuel Smith<\/strong> de Connecticut; <strong>Molly Weissman<\/strong> de Illinois; <strong>Brian Tate<\/strong> de Maryland; <strong>Vanessa Stegall<\/strong> de Nevada y <strong>Jaime Carne<\/strong> de Reino Unido.<\/p>\n<p>Como cierre se premiaron a las mejores escuelas y universidades promotoras de los programas de <strong>Best Buddies<\/strong> del periodo 2014\u20132015, tambi\u00e9n la actriz <strong>Laurent Potter<\/strong>, fue galardonada con el premio <strong><em>\u201cSpirit of Courage Award 2015\u201d,<\/em><\/strong> el cual se otorga al embajador m\u00e1s destacado al promover la misi\u00f3n de <strong>Best Buddies<\/strong> dentro de la comunidad de personas con discapacidad intelectual.<\/p>\n<p>Tambi\u00e9n asistieron participantes del programa <strong>Best Buddies Empleos<\/strong>, <strong>B\u00e1rbara Torres,<\/strong> con una trayectoria de 20 a\u00f1os, obtuvo el premio <strong><em>\u201cBest Buddies Jobs Employee of the Year<\/em><\/strong><em>\u201d,<\/em> el cual se otorga a\u00f1o con a\u00f1o al mejor empleado por su dedicaci\u00f3n y \u00e9tica de trabajo.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a1Felicidades a todos![:en]More than two thousand students, leaders, voluntaries and personnel from the national and international programs of <strong>Best Buddies<\/strong> participated from July 17th through 20th in the Annual <strong>Leadership Conference<\/strong>,  that was entitled <strong>\u201cI In\u201d<\/strong> this year at the University of Indiana in Bloomington.<\/p>\n<p>During that weekend, different conferences and workshops were offered in which participants shared innovating ideas that they can implement in their corresponding chapters to achieve long lasting friendships.<\/p>\n<p>The event this year gathered student leaders from high schools, colleges and schools promoting the <strong>Best Buddies<\/strong> programs and it offered a spectacular opening conference with speakers such as <strong>Marlana VanHoose<\/strong> that managed to touch the hearts of those present when she interpreted <strong><em>\u201cI\u00b4m Walking on Sunshine\u201d<\/em><\/strong> by <strong>Katrina and the Waves<\/strong> accompanied by the ambassador <strong>Lisa Smith<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Anthony K. Shriver<\/strong>, founder and chairman of <strong>Best Buddies International<\/strong> moved those present with an inspiring speech in which he compared his son Joseph with a young man named Leo who was born with <strong>Down\u00b4s Syndrome<\/strong>.  He declared: <em>\u201cwe are all in the same place, therefore Joseph and Leo may grow up in a world of friendship, inclusion and they will be granted the same respect as we all have\u201d.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Other outstanding moment was the performance of Marlana VanHoose accompanied by a marvelous choir formed by 60 individuals between participants and volunteers.<\/p>\n<p>Also the Great <strong>Friendship Stroll<\/strong> headed by <strong>Lauren Potter<\/strong> actress in the TV series <strong>Glee<\/strong> and <strong>David DeSanctis<\/strong>, leading man in the film <strong>Where Hope Grows<\/strong>. During the closing ceremony some ambassadors of <strong>Best Buddies<\/strong> offered motivational speeches. Among them were <strong>Samuel Smith<\/strong> from Connecticut; <strong>Molly Weissman<\/strong> from Illinois; <strong>Brian Tate <\/strong>from Maryland; <strong>Vanessa Stegall<\/strong> from Nevada and <strong>Jaime Carne<\/strong> from the United Kingdom.<\/p>\n<p>As a closure, the schools and colleges promoting the <strong>Best Buddies<\/strong> programs were awarded for the 2014-2015 period.
