In 2009,\nCarlos Slim Foundation established an alliance with the World Wildlife Fund\n(WWF), to promote the conservation of the natural wealth of Mexico and\nsustainable development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The WWF-Carlos\nSlim Foundation Alliance<\/strong> are currently working on six priority regions:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1<\/strong>  Mesoamerican Mexican Reef<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2<\/strong>  Chihuahuan Desert<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3<\/strong> Gulf of California<\/p>\n\n\n\n

4<\/strong>  Monarch Butterfly<\/p>\n\n\n\n

5<\/strong> Oaxaca<\/p>\n\n\n\n

6<\/strong> Chiapas<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The work is\ndone together with local, national and international partners, joining forces\nand financial and human resources addressing sustainable development and\nbiodiversity conservation. The WWF-Carlos Slim Foundation Alliance<\/strong> also\ncollaborates with federal and state government agencies to ensure that the\ninvestments contribute to meeting national and regional goals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Work is\ndone on Climate Change at the national level. So far the Alliance has supported\n63 local organizations in 104 projects throughout the nation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The app\nWWF-Telcel -developed by Innovaci\u00f3n Digital Carso\u2013 provides information on\nthree species facing extinction that are protected by the alliance: White\nShark, Monarch Butterfly and Jaguar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mexican Biodiversity Collection<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another\naction taken by the Carlos Slim Foundation to increase awareness of the\nimportance of environmental protection is the Mexican Biodiversity Collection,\nwhich was first published in 2007.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is a\nseries of books published to spread knowledge on the biological diversity of\nMexico, its natural wealth, importance, the threats it faces and the\npossibilities for its long-term preservation. The collection is part of the\nCarlos Slim Foundation\u2019s programs  on the\nprotection and conservation of biodiversity, and sustainable development in\nMexico.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

CONABIO \u2013 FCS NATURALISTA Alliance<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

There is\nalso the CONABIO \u2013 FCS NATURALISTA Alliance, a platform in which the user\nlearns about the great biodiversity of Mexico and the world, shares\nobservations of the natural world and meets other enthusiasts and professionals\nin the area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Training is\ngiven in communities in Oaxaca, Chiapas, Tabasco, Campeche and Quintana Roo, in\nthe use of the platform for sustaining and promoting the site.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The\nNaturalist app lets you upload, identify and look for observations with photos\nand location through GPS. This app was developed by iNaturalist.org together\nwith the California Academy of Sciences (www.naturalista.mx) and is led by Conabio\nand supported by the Carlos Slim Foundation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So far\ntraining has been given to 100 rural communities and 1,835 naturalists, and\n882,062 species observations have been registered on the platform, including\nthe discovery of new species.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Carlos\nSlim Foundation\u2019s vocation is the comprehensive training of people of all ages,\nin Mexico and Latin America, to strengthen their skills and allow them to\nactively participate in economic and social development, achieving greater\nopportunities and a better quality of life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For this purpose it works with academic institutions, governments and civil society organizations, so that its programs on education, health, employment, justice, immigrants, road safety, human development, sports, the environment, culture, humanitarian aid and economic development benefit the greatest number of people, with special emphasis on the most vulnerable groups.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
