Carlos Slim Foundation<\/strong> and the Soumaya Museum<\/strong> officially opened the doors of the Guillermo Tovar de Teresa\u2019s House Museum<\/strong>, a place that brings together more than a thousand pieces that make up the personal heritage of the Mexican historian and collector, as well as 13,000 titles in its library.<\/span><\/p>\n

Located at number 52 of Valladolid Street, Colonia Roma, Mexico City, the house where Guillermo Tovar De Teresa lived opens the doors to the public free-of charge.<\/span><\/p>\n

In a land of more than 600 square meters, with a construction of more than 900 square meters, the Porfirian house concentrates works such as the oil of the Archangel San Rafael, by Miguel Cabrera, and the Monumental Glass of Amozoc, Puebla. The collection also includes a porcelain virgin from France, which was carved in a workshop in Puebla and was a gift from the Empress Carlota to the ladies of her court.<\/span><\/p>\n

“The Guillermo Tovar de Teresa\u2019s House<\/strong> integrates the cultural project that follows the words of the Engineer Carlos Slim<\/strong>: ‘let’s find a way to make all the essencial and desirable universally accessible’,” shared Master Alfonso Miranda M\u00e1rquez<\/strong>, director of Museo Soumaya.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

“To be grateful to Carlos Slim Carlos Foundation<\/strong>, to Alfonso, and his entire team for the consolidation of this collection that today opens its doors to the people of Mexico. To be grateful, hoping it will be a project that for many years the Ministry of Culture of Mexico City and the Federal Ministry of Culture will support,” said Rafael Tovar L\u00f3pez Portillo<\/strong>, son of Guillermo Tovar de Teresa.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Guillermo Tovar de Teresa\u2019s House – Soumaya Museum<\/strong> opens its doors from Monday to Sunday from 10:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and the admission is free-of-charge.<\/span><\/p>\n

As part of the Carlos Slim Foundation, the Soumaya Museum opened its doors to the public in 1994. It is a non-profit cultural institution that has the vocation to collect, research, preserve, disseminate and exhibit artistic testimonies mainly from Mexico and Europe.<\/span><\/p>\n

The objective of the Soumaya Museum<\/strong> is to promote the knowledge and enjoyment of aesthetic work through the realization of: permanent, temporary and itinerant exhibitions, catalogues and monthly publications, play spaces, conferences, film cycles, interactive programs, and more.<\/span><\/p>\n
