The holding of the\u00a02018 Homeless World Cup in Mexico<\/strong>\u00a0was a real success. From November 13 to 18, the Zocalo of Mexico City witnessed a sporting festival, which was topped by the respective victories of the Mexican representatives.<\/p>\n

In the women\u2019s cup, Mexico beat the Colombian team 5-3 in the final. This result was their fourth consecutive crown and the sixth in total, after being victorious in Mexico 2012, Poznan 2013, Amsterdam 2015, Glasgow 2016 and Oslo 2017.<\/p>\n

For their part, the men\u2019s team beat Chile 6-3 in the final, to conquer their third\u00a0Homeless World Cup<\/strong>\u00a0in history. The trophy won on this occasion was added to those lifted in Amsterdam 2015 and Glasgow 2016.<\/p>\n

Following Mexico\u2019s double championship in the\u00a02018 Homeless World Cup<\/strong>,\u00a0Arturo Elias Ayub<\/strong>,\u00a0Multimedia and Strategic Alliances CEO of America Movil<\/strong>, underlined the successful organization of the tournament on Mexican soil.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was a great\u00a0Homeless World Cup<\/strong>. As well as the double championship, which we are very excited about, seeing 42 men\u2019s teams and 16 women\u2019s teams from 40 countries around the world, competing and changing their lives is a privilege and a great satisfaction\u201d, he said.<\/p>\n

About the role of the Telmex-Telcel Foundation<\/strong>,\u00a0Elias Ayub<\/strong>\u00a0said: \u201cwe believe that sport radically changes society, the individual and, in turn, society, and in turn the country as a whole. This is what all the foundation\u2019s sporting programs are about\u201d.<\/p>\n

This was the second\u00a0Homeless World Cup<\/strong>\u00a0held in Mexico. Next year, the event will be held in Cardiff, Wales.<\/p>\n
