Carlos Slim Foundation<\/strong> and Telephones of Mexico<\/strong> (Tel\u00e9fonos de Mexico<\/em>, TELMEX) inaugurated yesterday the TELCEL-TELMEX Digital Village<\/strong> (Aldea Digital<\/em>) in Iztapalapa. Unlike previous editions of this digital inclusion event, this is the first Aldea Digital<\/em> installed permanently.\u00a0 It is located in what was formerly a social center in the Ej\u00e9rcito Oriente<\/em> neighborhood, in Iztapalapa, Mexico City.<\/p>\n

The Aldea Digital<\/em> will feature more than 220 technological devices to serve 600 people daily with different workshops, 365 days a year.<\/p>\n

The CEO of Telmex, Hector Slim Seade<\/strong> said that “it will have, or has already, more than 122 workshops, all linked to information technology and knowledge; ranging from how to turn on your computer, how to create an email account, how to develop a website, to robotics.”<\/p>\n

The head of Government of Mexico City, Miguel Angel Mancera, thanked the Carlos Slim Hel\u00fa<\/strong>, life president of Grupo Carso. “The Eng. Carlos Slim promised us […] to carry out this project in Iztapalapa, and we thank Don Carlos Slim because here it is the promise fulfilled. We should acknowledge it. He did so with the convening power he has. And today I also thank Hector Slim who is representing TELMEX and, of course, has also made a significant investment here. Thanks, Hector,” he said.<\/p>\n

The Aldea Digital <\/em>is located at Av. Antonio Est\u00e9vez s\/n Esq. Exploradores de Ej\u00e9rcito de Oriente 2da. Secci\u00f3n, Delegaci\u00f3n Iztapalapa and has an approximate area of \u200b\u200bone thousand square meters. This digital education space will benefit millions of Mexicans, especially those living in neighboring areas such as the inhabitants of the municipality of Nezahualcoyotl and Los Reyes la Paz, as well as those living in delegations Xochimilco and Tl\u00e1huac.<\/p>\n

This is the first permanent Aldea Digital <\/em>across the country; however, a temporary Digital Village is still planned to be installed in the Zocalo (Central Square of Mexico City) between the months of July and August, with the participation of more than 80 speakers.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
