Educational Cultural Route: art and culture for young people in the Pensiles neighborhoods
With the aim of bringing children and adolescents who live in the Pensiles neighborhoods in Mexico City closer to art and culture, Carlos Slim Foundation, through its different social programs, and the Miguel Hidalgo Delegation (Borough) carry out the Cultural Educational Route.
The route includes accompanied tours to the TELMEX Digital Library, the Soumaya Museum, and the Sports Hall of Fame. It is held every Tuesday and Thursday of February and March, with the participation of elementary and secondary schools of the Pensiles neighborhoods.
The Route starts at the TELMEX Digital Library – Faro del Saber Morelos (Morelos Lighthouse of Knowledge), located next to the Pavón Sports Center: an important point of reference and a meeting point for the community. The Digital Library offers young people the possibility of learning skills in Information and Communication Technologies, through a robotics workshop. In this workshop they acquire programming principles and carry out learning processes based on digital environments.
At the Soumaya Museum, students have an approach to art as a factor to improve understanding of the world, to question the environment and to unravel the meaning of existence.
Finally, the Sports Hall of Fame offers students a complete interactive experience, through which they learn the basics of various sport disciplines, with the aim of awakening their interest in sports.
Also, the Historic Center of Mexico City Foundation works with nine primary and secondary schools located in the Pensiles neighborhoods, which participate in the Cultural Educational Route. The Foundation’s work with these educational institutions aims to contribute strengthening the sense of belonging among the school community and promote links among its members.
The Historic Center of Mexico City Foundation applies programs to improve the quality of life of its inhabitants. Currently, it works in two strategic areas: the Historical Center of Mexico City and a group of Mexico City’s neighborhoods called Las Pensiles, located in the Miguel Hidalgo Delegation.
Carlos Slim Foundation recognizes the importance of education for the integral development of the nation. Every year our programs contribute by granting diverse inputs to the formation of students, supporting them from their first years of life to their postgraduate studies, committing to the creation of a free, healthy, fair and prosperous society.
