Soumaya Museum is included in the list of the most beautiful museums in the world

The Soumaya Museum was included in the list of the 17 most beautiful museums in the world in 2019, a list prepared by the magazine Vogue France.

This cultural site is recommended as one of the places to “visit at least once in a lifetime”, together with museums such as Le Louvre in Paris, the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, the Hermitage Museum in Saint Petersburg, and the Vatican Museum.

“Inspired by the curves of Rodin’s sculptures, this steel giant designed by architect Fernando Romero surprises with its facade, completely covered with 17 thousand hexagons that reflect sunlight,” the publication points out.

For the magazine, the most-see pieces at the Soumaya Museum are:

-The 140 works of Rodin.

-The masters of New Spain.

-The paintings by Diego Rivera, Salvador Dalí and Pablo Picasso.

The list also includes the Louvre in Abu Dhabi; the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao; the Musée d’Orsay in Paris; the State History Museum in Moscow; the Doge’s Palace in Venice; the Museum of Contemporary Art in Nierói, Brazil; the Yves Saint Laurent in Marrakech; The National Gallery in London; The National Palace Museum in Taipei, Taiwan; The Louis Vuitton Foundation in Paris; the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam; and the Museum of Islamic Art in Doha, Qatar.

The Soumaya Museum, which forms part of Carlos Slim Foundation, opened its doors to the public in 1994. It is a non-profit cultural institution that has the vocation to collect, research, preserve, disseminate and exhibit artistic testimonies mainly from Mexico and Europe.

The objective of the Soumaya Museum is to promote the knowledge and enjoyment of the aesthetic work through the realization of permanent, temporary and itinerant exhibitions, monthly catalogues and publications, play spaces, conferences, film cycles, interactive programs, and more.
